Well, at least we used to be fanatics. Every Saturday year round. Every Wednesday night between Memorial day and Labor day. An intramurals team at the U. We'd play for hours and hours and hours. Rain, wind, snow, scorching sun. We were there. Cleats on our feet. Dressed for the weather. The local lacrosse teams took over our field, we'd have a standby field. For seven years. No joke. But, people moved out of state and it was hard to get the numbers we needed.
Today, we played for only hours and hours. And because of lacrosse, we were at the standby field. There were a bunch of friends in town from the DC area and Minnesota. They were here to see family, to celebrate our friend's wedding this weekend, and of course, to PLAY FRISBEE. Most of the group is married now (we even learned today, one couple married a month and a half ago - and where did they meet? Playing Frisbee with us!!!)
Now there are lots of kids in the bunch, an up and coming generation of Frisbee players. The group gets together whenever someone comes to town (though I do play 1-2 times a week with break off groups.) There is nothing like playing with this group though. The originals (well, most of them.)
Lizard (one of the friends visiting from DC) and I declared today that even when we are old, no matter home much it will drain us physically (as if today didn't drain us), we will still get together and play.
Long live the Springers! We will play together forever!
Here are some fun photos from the day...
Here's 2 of the next generation...
and another...
the newest born... (this isn't the father though)
and the newest family to join the group...We "old timers" continue to play and always try to find others to join us. I wish you could see the looks on our faces here, walking off the field. Complete exhaustion after almost 3 1/2 hours of playing. We were so tired - I'm not sure how we could even walk off the field. If you zoomed in on the photo, I better you'd see smiles plastered on our faces.
