Earth Day 5K

A running friend introduced me to a virtual race organization this year. Muffins to Marathons encourages an active lifestyle. They organize events and when you register, you receive a medal, sometimes a shirt. You run on a designated day or when your schedule allows, and you report your results.  I thought it would be fun for little man Daybreak to run a race and get a medal, so I signed us up for the Earth Day event.  Unfortunately, he was throwing up on Earth Day, so we had to postpone the actual run.

We ran the Daybreak Lake trail last Friday. Ran most of it at least.  Little man has a little more to learn about pacing.  I was pushing his sisters in the strollers as I ran, I tried to teach him to just stay even with us, but he'd take off sometimes. And then we'd rest. And then we'd run some more. And so on. He ran a lot of it though. I was quite impressed.

Here we are before leaving.

I told little man that the first one home was the winner.  As he ran up the front steps, he proudly declared he'd won the race. Here he is with his medal.  His (and his sisters') first race in the books.
