The Funeral

Last weekend was Uncle Gene's Funeral.  Here is the link to his obituary.  My dad and two of his three brothers were able to make the trip.  Here is a picture of all the Thompsons who were able to attend.

We thought we'd have a little fun. The three eldest daughters of the three brothers came to town (well, I'm pretty much there already...)

Coincidentally, two of the brothers also had their youngest daughters in attendance.

Coincidentally, I am the eldest and the youngest daughter in my family

The funeral was in Salt Lake at their home ward, but the funeral was in Soda Springs where our family is from, where my own grandparents are buried.

We started the service with singing "Love at Home" accompanied by one of my aunts on guitar.

We were invited to share our thoughts. Luckily, no photos of me, I sobbed the whole way through my thought.

Aunt Gwen thanked us all for coming as well.

You can see in the obituary that uncle Gene grew up on a sheep farm.  His daughter, my aunt Kris found this at a Utah shop - a sheepherder's lodging. Perfect for uncle Gene. They even had the music box tuned to play "Home on the Range," one of uncle Gene's favorites.

And finally, we of course had to drink our soda water at Hooper.

(Thanks to my cousins for taking photos and sharing them on FB)
